i have been making floats since i was 18.
i was taught by my famous uncle mervyn (topper) haskins firstly making the traditional balsa on crow quill avons then the styrofoam poly avons. i have lost count at the amount i have made selling them to as far away as denmark,ireland,germany,france to name a few.
for the last 5 years i have had to change to pole floats as many of the river anglers switched to the commercial carp lakes.
it was a complete change but i have adapted and now make my own pole floats after buying shop floats that either fell apart or never stood upto the riggers of carp bagging.
about me
i enjoy making fishing tackle be it spools for my abu 501's to floats for the rivers or lakes.any thing is possible as i have been in engineering since 16.all the floats are hand made and are tank tested for shotting capacity.float making is time consuming and each bit of balsa has different density which means no 2 floats are exactly identical, but thats the fun.
